I didn’t want to see that film because I ***saw/had seen it twice*** . Který čas v této větě správně prosím?

The answer is : I had seen
ex 1. I didn't want to see the film , so we watched something different.
( 1 ) ( 2 )
In this sentence there are two parts ( past tense )
The first action ( first event ) , That '' I '' didn't want to see the film
The second action ( second event ) , the result is '' we '' watched something different.

ex 2. I didn't want to see the film because I had seen it twice.
( 2 ) ( 1 )
The result is (2) that I didn't want to see the film. ( past) - what is recently happened
The reason is ( 1 ) I had seen it twice ( past perfect ) = far past

Another example :
I was nervous because I hadn't done that before.
I am talking about the time before I was nervous.
