'nice' is mostly use in a common language when we want to say that we like something. Usually it refers to physical appearance (a nice view, a nice room, a nice shirt) or the intrinsic qualities of the object - a nice person (may be kind, helpful, loving) . We are not somehow specially impressed though.

'pretty' is the adverb we use when we want to emphasize our impression about something (a pretty irresponsible decision, a pretty clever maneuver) or when we want emphasize our feeling about certain fact ( he was a pretty clever student, his choice changed pretty much nothing)

'handsome' refers to pleasing the form of appearance, often with distinguished feature ( a handsome face) or when we want to emphasize the appropriateness (a handsome kitchen)

'beautiful' refers to a fact or a statement that have qualities extraordinarily appealing to our feelings or sense (it was such a beautiful melody, he has a beautiful speech)
